Overview

We develop M&V plans covering baseline definition, method selection, adjustments and reporting. The evidence pack supports review by owners, ESCOs and finance teams against the agreed project requirements.

How the engagement works

  1. Define the project boundary and the baseline before changes are made, identifying weather, occupancy or production variables.
  2. Select a measurement approach appropriate to the intervention and specify data collection, adjustments and uncertainty.
  3. Compare reporting-period performance with the adjusted baseline and explain exclusions, changes in use and confidence in the result.

What to prepare

  • The retrofit scope, energy performance contract where relevant and historical consumption data.
  • Records of occupancy, production, weather inputs and any planned changes to the site.

Questions about this service

When should the M&V plan be prepared?

Before the intervention whenever possible. Removing equipment or changing controls without baseline records can make later savings claims difficult to substantiate.

Is a lower utility bill enough to prove savings?

No. Tariffs, operating hours and activity can change. M&V separates these effects from project performance using a documented baseline and appropriate adjustments.
